How Kosme Aesthetics Chooses Our Fat Freeze & EmShape Machines
At Kosme Aesthetics, we believe in transparency.
In this article, we’ll reveal the behind-the-scenes of aesthetic machines and how we choose our machines.
If you want the juicy stuff - This article will cover some of that too.
But before I tell you about our process, here are 5 reasons why you can trust what I’m saying:
- My team and I have tested over 50 machines.
- We’ve tried machines from Korea, UK, Italy, Israel, USA and China.
- I’ve personally spoken to engineers and owners of the aesthetic device manufacturers.
- We’ve done over 20,000 Fat Freezing treatments and over 5,000 EmShape treatments.
- I’m telling you both our strengths and weaknesses.
Here are the 3 “secret sauces” nobody else will tell you:
1. Many of the branded machines are also made in China.
When I spoke with some of the technicians at the big name branded aesthetic machine companies, I realised a shocking truth:
Nearly all of the machine parts are made in China.
Sometimes, they ship the various parts and make final assembly in Europe or Korea.
Other times, they register an office in Europe or Korea and claim that it’s made in China.
Many of the Chinese manufacturers will even be happy to help you print “Made in Korea”.
But well, if you think about it, almost all branded products are the same.
From Samsung to Apple to LV, they all have factories in China.
Once I realised this, I found it crazy to pay $100,000 for a machine instead of $10,000 for a well-made Chinese machine.
2. What actually matters for the machines
After testing 16+ fat freezing machines from 3 different continents, I realised that the most important things are:
- The suction is strong enough so the cryolipolysis can work at -5°C
- The circuit board is stable - Because if a cheap one is used, the machine will spoil easily. It’s dangerous if the machine spoils while the patient is undergoing treatment.
- The type of cups used suits the patient.
- The skill and experience of the practitioner.
- The membranes are thick, viscous and have lots of liquid. We tried over 76 and decided to work with a manufacturer to produce our own.
If you never tried Fat Freezing before, the membrane is the protective layer that is in between the machine and the skin.
Using high quality membranes allow maximum results without harming the skin with burns.
And when it comes to EmShape, you’ll hear different brands saying that they do 7 teslas or 30,000 sit-ups…
But most of that is just empty promises made from a marketing agency using ChatGPT.
What matters is:
- Again the circuit board so that it’s powerful and stable
- The heat and ventilation flow so the machine doesn’t overheat
- FDA-approval, because EMS can be dangerous.
After trying over 32 EMS machines, we decided to choose an Israeli-designed machine.
It’s newly FDA approved, reasonably priced, and powerful.
Yes… We chose machines and buy directly from the factories in China so we can pass on the value to our clients.
We know Singaporeans like: “Cheap and good”.

3. The reason for the mark-up is technician servicing and celebrity endorsements
For brands like LV, you’re paying a mark-up for the design, authenticity and brand.
Carrying a real LV is different from carrying a fake LV.
When it comes to aesthetic machines, my personal take is that since they produce the same results anyway…
The quality of the build matters more than the brand name.
But since people know the famous brands through celebrity endorsements, that’s the treatment most patients choose.
And...Since not many people have the technical skills to repair machines, only the big brands can sell machines.
This allows them to reach most places.
Especially in the US, you can only service smaller cities if you sell a machine at $100k or $200k.
Otherwise, you cannot afford to fly your technician out to repair spoilt machines.
Now that you know these secrets, here’s our process on selecting our fat freezing and EmShape machines:
1. Research:
- We thoroughly research the latest advancements in fat freezing and body contouring technologies by attending conferences.
- We also visit factories and speak to technicians.
2. Manufacturer Evaluation:
- We evaluate potential manufacturers based on their reputation, track record, and customer satisfaction.
- We also consider the manufacturer's commitment to innovation and ongoing product development.
3. Machine Testing:
- We tested over 10 manufacturers for each machine to find the best quality and value ratio.
- On top of that, we test the added little things like over 76 Fat Freezing membranes to find the perfect one.
- When that failed, we worked with a factory to create our own one.
4. Clinical Results:
- We review clinical studies and data to ensure the machines we choose are effective.
- This ensures they deliver lasting results.
- Eg. Our EmShape machine is FDA-approved, been through 155 scientific studies and are in 115 countries.
5. Ongoing Evaluation:
- We continuously evaluate the performance of our machines and monitor patient satisfaction.
- We are committed to providing the best possible results for our clients.
- We are always looking for ways to improve our technology and procedures.
